The frigid winter tearing through Illinois will soon be over, and spring will arrive. It’s important that you prepare your Toyota for warmer weather in Dixon. To keep your car running in 2021, follow these spring service tips, as suggested by our service technicians at Ken Nelson Toyota.
Schedule an oil change
The primary maintenance task you need to do every season is scheduling an engine oil change. No matter how often you drive, the engine oil needs to be flushed every 3-5 months and replaced with clean oil that won’t mess with the inner workings of your Toyota.
Check the air conditioning
As temperatures rise, you’ll begin running the A/C system again. Make sure that cool air comes out as it should. If it doesn’t, your car might need a new cabin air filter, a refrigerant refill, or even climate control system repairs.
Replace the wiper blades
When you drive through spring showers, you need clean, working wipers that can cut through the rain. If the wipers are more than a year old, replace them with new clean blades and check that the wiper fluid is filled up.
Wash and wax
Rinse off all the corrosive road salt and put a new protective coat of wax on your car. It’ll look nicer and will be less prone to premature rusting.
Ask for a thorough inspection
Many vehicle components can deteriorate during winter, so you’ll want to have our technicians perform a thorough bumper-to-bumper inspection. This includes checking the battery’s charge, examining the tire tread depth, verifying all lights and bulbs are working, and evaluating the condition of other fluids, belts, and parts. Don’t wait until summer to give your car a proper checkup. Bring it to Ken Nelson Toyota in March or April so it’s ready to hit the road again.
